Our roots can be traced back to 1969 when Dr. Robert F. McDavid designed and developed what was to become the first widely used lateral protective knee brace in football. In 1980, after 11 years of grass roots development at the collegiate and professional sports medicine levels, McDavid Knee Guard, Inc. was formed to market protective braces and began operating from a basement in Bellwood, IL. The goal then, as it is today, was to design, manufacture and market technically advanced products for athletes and active people for injury prevention, treatment and to enhance performance.

Today, from our early beginnings in a basement we now manufacture and market over 250 different innovative products for athletes and active people of all ages. McDavid is the most widely used and recommended brand of braces among sports medical professionals and the industry leader in sports medical products, technical performance athletic wear and consumer merchandising.
