The Cho-Pat Iliotibial Band (ITB) Strap
  • Applies compression at the area of discomfort to help relieve Iliotibial Band Syndrome.
  • Prevents the snapping or friction of the iliotibial band over the bony prominence just above and outside of the knee joint or further up the leg at the hip joint allowing the healing process to begin.
  • The user should wear the strap nearest the area of most discomfort. However, the user can wear it approximately 2” – 3” in either direction with beneficial results.
  • Available in 5 different sizes.

The Cho-Pat Iliotibial Band (ITB) Strap

What is Iliotibial Band Syndrome?
Inflammation of the Iliotibial Banda thick band of fibrous tissue that runs down the outside of the leg. The iliotibial band begins at the hip and extends to the outer side of the shin bone (tibia) just below the knee joint. The band functions in coordination with several of the thigh muscles to provide stability to the outside of the knee joint.

What causes ITB?
People who suddenly increase their level of activity, such as runners who increase their mileage, often develop iliotibial band syndrome. Others who are prone to ITBS include individuals with mechanical problems of their gait such as people who overpronate, have leg length discrepancies, or are bow-legged.
